The San Diego mosque where a pair of teen gunmen killed three people in May was placed on lockdown Tuesday, police said.
The San Diego Police Department announced around 3 p.m. that the Islamic Center of San Diego “is currently on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.”
“SDPD has a police presence at the location to ensure everyone’s safety,” the alert added. “Please avoid the area. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.”

The Islamic Center was the site of a mass shooting on May 18, when Caleb Vazquez and Cain Clark opened fire at the mosque after inscribing anti-Muslim hate messages on their weapons before taking their own lives.
