Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has been named winner of the Socrates Award at the 2026 Ballon d'Or awards.
The Socrates Award was introduced in 2022 and recognises footballers for their humanitarian and charity work away from the pitch. Named after the Brazil great, the award was first presented to former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.
Saka has been namedwinner of the 2026 prize, for his work in supporting those in need. The England international has been involved in multiple projects, most notably with Big Shoe, which provides medical care and aid to children and families across the world.
Working with the German foundation, Saka's support helped fund 120 surgical operations in Nigeria, helping those suffering from illnesses including brain tumours.
Saka's support also brought aid to those impacted by devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Morocco.
Alongside Mane, Vinicius Junior is also a past winner after taking the 2023 award. The Real Madrid star was recognised for his effort to combat racism and support of children's education.
Last year's winner was the 'Xana Foundation', linked to Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique.
The award was handed to Enrique his commitment to supporting seriously ill children and their families by providing medical, financial and psychological support. Enrique's youngest daughter, Xana, died of bone cancer at the age of 9 in 2019, with the foundation set up in her honour.
