Biratnagar Kings need 158 runs to win their first fixture of the third season of the Nepal Premier League.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Sandeep Lamichhane-led bowling attack denied Chitwan Rhinos a big total.
Rhinos’ Dev Khanal started the first innings with a four on the very first ball, showing that the team had come with the intent of posting a huge total.
Khanal and Dawid Malan built a 58-run partnership for the first wicket. Khanal departed for 12 off 15, while Malan went on to smash 70 off 50 with the help of five fours and sixes apiece.
Ravi Bopara (32 off 26) and Dan Mousley (29 off 22) stayed until the end to take Chitwan to 157/3.
Angelo Mathew’s, Andre Russell and Charith Asalanka picked one wicket each for Biratnagar.
Now, the eyes will be on hard-hitter Russell to take Biratnagar to the win.
