The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) is launching a major wave of planned power shutdowns across Lahore and adjoining districts starting today (Monday) as it carries out maintenance and system upgrades ahead of winter.
According to Lesco’s schedule, around 200 urban and rural subdivisions will face power outages lasting five to seven hours daily. In some areas, the shutdowns may continue for up to eight hours, mainly between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The planned work will affect 132kV and 220kV grid stations and their connected 11kV feeders. Lesco will replace worn conductors, insulators and other equipment, trim tree branches near high-voltage lines, overhaul grid stations and divide feeders to manage seasonal demand.
In Lahore, the affected areas include Allama Iqbal Town, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Shadman, Johar Town, Model Town, Defence, Cantt and Walton Road. Industrial and commercial areas around Raiwind, Manga Mandi, Sundar and Jubilee Town will also face shutdowns.
The schedule also covers parts of Sheikhupura, including Qila Sattar Shah and Atta Abad, as well as Kasur, Okara, Muridke, Farooqabad, Hujra Shah Muqeem and Phool Nagar.
Meanwhile, sources said some Lesco field offices had reported delays in receiving essential maintenance equipment and replacement parts, raising concerns about possible delays in restoring electricity. Consumers in affected areas should charge essential devices and make necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages.
