The Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night, which is always a welcome rivalry win. The schedule for the Cowboys is favorable all the way until they see these Eagles again on Thanksgiving, putting a huge dent in Philly’s chances of repeating as division champions while keeping their own alive with a primetime win.
More importantly than all of this perhaps, the Cowboys saw Javonte Williams be the back they need him to be with a huge game on the ground, leading to a balanced approach that helped Dallas get out with a big win.
Javonte Williams on career day that helped power the Cowboys over the Eagles: ‘It felt good’ – DallasCowboys.com
Javonte Williams picked a great time to have his best game of the season.
All told, not including the scrambles from Dak Prescott, the Cowboys ran the ball a total of 36 times, setting up the most efficient passing game of the season, one that featured three passing touchdowns from Prescott, two to CeeDee Lamb and one to George Pickens, and the two-dimensional attack both wore down the Vic Fangio’s’ defense and simultaneously kept them guessing.
“It was huge,” Williams added. “We were just trying to get back to a balanced offense, and I feel like we did a great job tonight. … We’ve got a high-powered offense, and when you’ve got G.P., CeeDee, Jake Ferguson, those guys on the outside, I mean, it’s going to open up the running.”

A strong running game is a QB’s best friend, too.
Winner: QB Dak Prescott
It wasn’t always pretty as Dak finished with a 56% completion rate, but it was a three passing touchdown showing for the Cowboys quarterback, who also ran into the endzone for a two-point conversion.
Prescott did a good job of getting both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens involved, as both combined for three touchdowns and each got at least 70 receiving yards.
3 things we learned about the Cowboys from the Eagles game – Dyllan Rivers, Blogging The Boys
The Cowboys may have even found glimpses of a RB tandem in this game with Tyler Goodson running well behind Williams.
The hammer and speed approach worked well against the Eagles all night long. This offensive line bullied defenders in the trenches, Williams made tacklers pay, and Goodson offered a bit of speed and agility, cranking out some nifty runs throughout the night. This is a pairing that Dallas should continue to utilize at a high rate for the remainder of the season.

The last time QB Dak Prescott faced off against Fangio, he passed for 354 yards and two scores in a 24-21 win. This time, Prescott only had to complete 15 passes for 212 yards. He tossed three touchdowns to go along with RB Javonte Williams’ career high of 155 yards on the ground.
Monday Night Football: Cowboys run past Eagles 38-21 – Charean Williams, Pro Football Talk
The Cowboys did a great job staying ahead of the chains to keep the full playbook open all night.
Brian Schottenheimer, whose play calling was criticized after he abandoned the run in the second half last week, called for more runs than passes. The Cowboys ran it 38 times for 204 yards and threw it 27 times for 212 yards. The Eagles had zero tackles for loss.
Javonte Williams set a career-high with 155 yards and scored a touchdown on 25 carries. He is the Cowboys’ first 150-yard rusher since Ezekiel Elliott in 2018.

The NFC East is still up for grabs, and the Cowboys made the claim they had to about being in the mix on Monday night.
NFC East watch. Both teams came into Monday night desperate for a win, especially after the division-leading Giants moved to 4-2-1 on Sunday. By emerging victorious, the Cowboys can breathe a momentary sigh of relief. Their 3-4 record is far from ideal, but they remain in shouting distance of New York and proved plenty capable of lighting up the scoreboard after two worrying weeks.
