At 27 years old, Kylian Mbappe is already considered one of the greatest players in the history of football.

As the highest goal scorer in the history of the FIFA World Cup, and one of the top goal scorers every year for almost the last decade, Mbappe has already carved out a place as one of the game's best-ever forwards.

Yet it feels like there still has been some meat left on the bone, somehow. Despite reaching the World Cup final twice, winning one title in 2018, Mbappe has yet to win the UEFA Champions League at either PSG or Real Madrid, meaning there is more for him to accomplish still in his club career.

Additionally, there is one award that Mbappe has not yet lifted — the Ballon d'Or, the most coveted individual prize in world football, one that every player dreams of hoisting at some point in their professional career.

Has Kylian Mbappe ever won the Ballon d'Or?

No, Kylian Mbappe has not won a Ballon d'Or to this point in his career, as of the 2026 ceremony.

The closest Mbappe has come was in 2023, when he finished third behind Lionel Messi, who had just won the 2022 World Cup, and Erling Haaland, who had set the Premier League records for goals in a season.

It's expected that Mbappe will also finish top three in the 2026 voting, vying with fellow favorites Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal for the trophy.

Kylian Mbappe Ballon d'Or voting results

Kylian Mbappe has been nominated for the Ballon d'Or every single year since 2017, and has finished in the Top 10 in each of those years, an outstanding record for a player who has never won the award.

Mbappe did win the Kopa Trophy in 2018, the inaugural year of the award presented to the best young player in the world under the age of 21. That award is presented at the Ballon d'Or gala every year.
