KUALA LUMPUR: A construction worker pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court to exposing himself to a 12-year-old girl in a condominium lift.
Muhammad Aniq Mohd Jafri, 25, is accused of committing the offence at a condominium in Taman Danau Desa between 6.30pm and 6.50pm on April 1.
The charge, under Section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, carries a maximum 10-year jail term, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, upon conviction.
Aniq entered his plea before judge Suhaila Haron.
Deputy public prosecutor V. Suloshani sought bail of RM10,000 with one surety and asked the court to impound the accused's passport and require him to report to a police station monthly.
"The accused should also be barred from contacting or interfering with the victim and prosecution witnesses until case disposal," she said.
Aniq, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lower bail amount.
Suhaila granted him bail of RM9,000 with one surety and imposed the additional conditions requested by the prosecution.
The court fixed Nov 30 for mention.
