Liverpool spent big improving their forward options once again last summer.
The biggest deal was Bradley Barcola - arriving from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee that could top £123m. And Victor Munoz was also onboarded after Richard Hughes activated his £34m Osasuna release clause.
But the 2024/25 Premier League champions were active for wingers right until the final stages of the summer transfer window.
LFC saw summer bid for Sarr rejected
Bids were flying around for other wide forward options - including Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr. Minteh - currently injured - saw his valuation rise up and up by his club Brighton which left Liverpool with no option other than to call off the bidding.
And Sarr was said to be very keen on a move to Anfield from Crystal Palace but a deal ultimately failed to get over the line. The 28-year-old would have provided Andoni Iraola another option at right wing as well as at second striker.
It had been suggested that maybe Iraola and new sporting director Julian Ward would take another look at signing the Senegal star in January.
Liverpool make decision on Sarr
But now a report in Football Insider is claiming that Sarr is no longer a topic on Merseyside and the £50m-rated winger could be on his way to Galatasaray instead.
“Galatasaray are plotting a fresh move to sign Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr in the January transfer window,” the report reads.
“The 28-year-old continues to be linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, after the Turkish giants joined Liverpool in having offers rejected during the summer window.
“While a move to Anfield is now believed to be unlikely, Galatasaray's interest has lingered, and they could make a fresh move to lure him away from Crystal Palace.”
Palace's wretched start to the season
Sarr is feeling his way back to full fitness after an injury-hit start to the season for Pierre Sage’s side. Palace have experienced a
wretched start to the season under their new French boss following a huge shakeup over the summer. Oliver Glasner left for Crystal Palace with former Lens boss Sage so far unable to get the Eagles soaring up the Premier League table.
