Budget bill before cabinet Wednesday, progress with EU on flexibility - Giorgetti

(ANSA) - ROME, 27 OTT - Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said Tuesday that the government's 2027 budget bill is almost ready and will be examined by Premier Giorgia Meloni's cabinet on Wednesday He added that progress has been made with the European Commission regarding Italy's request for additional extra flexibility in the application of the EU's budget rules because of soaring inflation triggered by the Iran war. "These are very intense times; we're working day and night at the Ministry of Economy and Finance," Giorgetti said via video link to the Festival delle Regioni event. "We are meeting stakeholders—we met with the regions last week. "Rumours (about the budget bill) are circulating in the press, but we keep working with our heads down. "I believe we'll take it to cabinet tomorrow morning, because almost all the components have been finalized. "We've made progress with the European Commission, so I believe we'll finalize the proposals we consider admissible by tonight". (see related). (ANSA).
