The stage is set for the much-awaited matchup between two fierce rivals. The Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles face each other for “Monday Night Football.”
Both teams go into the game with a 2-4 record. While the Eagles are on a four-game losing streak amid an injury-riddled season, the Cowboys have struggled with regression on both sides of the ball.
The struggling seasons only spice up the matchup, and one former Cowboy was the recipient of that energy. During the pregame show for ESPN, Marcus Spears was welcomed with not-so-friendly “Dallas sucks” chants from the crowd. Spears replied, “Y’all do, too.”
Fans online reacted to the interaction.
“Spears fighting the whole Philly crowd an hour before kickoff,” one fan said.
Marcus Spears sends a message to the Dallas Cowboys
Marcus Spears discussed how his former team needs to step up and play its best game of the season to win against the age-old rivals. He also wanted Dak Prescott and the offensive line to step up.
“Guys have to play to the level in which they are getting paid. That starts with Dak Prescott. That starts with CeeDee Lamb, that starts with this offensive line. That is where Dallas bump their head. We continue to talk about defense, and obviously you have to play at a high level, but Dallas didn’t come into this season, ‘We are gonna win games on this defense.’ That was far from their mind,” Spears said.
While expectations from Prescott will be high, the Eagles’ Saquon Barkley will also be one to watch. Barkley returns from a hamstring injury, providing a huge boost to injury-riddled Philly, especially when Jalen Hurts is out indefinitely due to multiple blood clots in his lungs.
