The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) today began an aviation security audit of Bangladesh, reviewing Bangladesh's aviation security oversight system against international standards.
The audit is being conducted under ICAO's Universal Security Audit Programme-Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) and will continue until November 6, according to a press release from the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
A national briefing was held at CAAB headquarters in Kurmitola this morning, where officials presented Bangladesh's aviation security oversight framework to the ICAO audit team.
Bangladesh's National Coordinator Mohammad Alamgir briefed the auditors on the country's security oversight system, while ICAO audit team leader Callum Vine also addressed the meeting.
CAAB Member (Security) Air Commodore Md Asif Iqbal called on the agencies concerned to provide accurate documents and information on time, ensure personnel are available for interviews and observations, and facilitate the auditors' access to designated airports and facilities.
The ICAO team later met CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddiq.
The chairman said CAAB would prepare and implement corrective action plans within stipulated deadlines based on the audit's findings and recommendations.
