Alex Scott transfer latest as Bournemouth fight to keep Chelsea target
Bournemouth are preparing a fresh push to tie Alex Scott down to a new deal, with TeamTalk reporting that owner Bill Foley has authorised a second club record contract offer for the midfielder.
The move underlines how seriously Bournemouth view the situation. Scott has already rejected an offer that would have made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history, yet the Cherries are refusing to walk away. Foley’s recent visit to England appears to have accelerated those efforts, with the club hierarchy now ready to test the waters again.
This is a significant moment in the Alex Scott transfer story. Bournemouth are trying to protect a prized asset who remains under contract until 2028, but there is also a growing sense that the player believes it may be time for a new challenge. At 23, with Premier League and England recognition behind him, his profile has risen to the point where attention from elite clubs is now a constant background noise.
Chelsea interest remains strong
Chelsea’s interest is long-standing and serious. The report states that the London club made a bid during the summer window and are expected to return before January with another attempt. That detail matters, because it suggests this is not exploratory admiration, it is a live recruitment plan.
Liverpool have also been credited with admiration, while Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have held conversations over the England international. Bournemouth’s preference has been clear throughout, they do not want to sell. Yet sources now accept that a departure in January may become possible if the numbers climb high enough.
That figure is emphatic. Any deal would need to reach at least £100 million for Bournemouth to consider a sale. In modern market terms, that valuation does two things. It signals strength publicly, and it warns suitors that this will not be an easy negotiation, particularly in the middle of a season.

Alex Scott injury and January question
Scott is currently sidelined with a thigh injury and is not expected back until the next international break in November. That does not remove interest, but it may shape the timing of any concrete move. Clubs will want clarity on fitness before committing to a package of this size, especially when Bournemouth are holding the line at £100 million or more.
Even so, the direction of travel is becoming clearer. Bournemouth are still pushing for a renewal, Foley is still personally invested, and rival clubs, Chelsea included, are staying alert. Internally, there appears to be an acceptance that retaining Scott indefinitely may prove increasingly difficult.
For Chelsea, this feels like a situation to watch closely rather than force prematurely. Bournemouth’s second record offer is a statement of intent, but it may also be the clearest sign yet that they know pressure is building around one of their biggest assets.
Our View
If Chelsea really are planning to return, then this is exactly the sort of move the club should be pursuing. Alex Scott looks like a player with the technical quality, mobility and personality to thrive at the top end of the Premier League. The fact Bournemouth are scrambling to produce another record proposal tells its own story about how highly he is rated inside the game.
The £100 million valuation is enormous and that number will make plenty of people pause, but elite young English talent always carries a premium. If the recruitment team believe he can become a cornerstone midfielder for years, then the conversation should not end at the first headline fee. It should focus on suitability, ceiling and timing.
There is encouragement in the detail that a bid already went in during the summer. That suggests serious groundwork has been done. It also hints that personal terms may not be the issue if the opportunity is right. Bournemouth can offer him status and patience, but Chelsea can offer a bigger platform and the chance to grow into a leading role on the biggest stages.
January would be difficult, especially if Bournemouth dig in, but this feels like one worth pursuing properly. If there is a chance to land Scott before the queue gets even longer, Chelsea should be ready to move decisively.
