The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said it is working with the support of Rotary International to ensure that all children in Afghanistan are vaccinated against polio.
In a post on X on Tuesday, October 27, UNICEF said every child has the right to grow up healthy and free from the risk of polio.
The agency added that, in partnership with Rotary International, it is working to protect children from the disease through polio vaccination.
Afghanistan and Pakistan are among the few countries in the world where the polio virus has not yet been fully eradicated.
The World Health Organization reported several days ago that six new polio cases had been recorded in Afghanistan.
According to the report, 42 cases of the virus have been recorded in the country since the beginning of 2026.
