Khattar arriving to inaugurate light house project

Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar is arriving here in Agartala to inaugurate the light-house housing project where the first batch of flats are ready for beneficiaries, a top official of the Urban Development Department told Tripura Times.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha shall also remain present at the event.

The inauguration ceremony is likely to take place either on October 29 or 30. The dates haven’t been finalised yet, official sources further said. 

Sources said in the first phase 267 flats shall be distributed. Keys shall be handed over to the beneficiaries who had been eagerly waiting for the affordable housing project. In the next three months, the remaining flats shall be prepared and distributed among the beneficiaries as per the rules. 

Sources further said that around 200 beneficiaries are on the waiting list to take advantage of the affordable housing scheme. For EWS category beneficiaries, each flat shall cost Rs 5 lakh while for other category beneficiaries, the cost would be around Rs 7 lakh. A non-refundable booking fee of Rs 5,000 is charged for getting enrolled for the scheme.

The project got delayed on multiple occasions as the implementing agency missed its deadline several times.
