The water level of the Danube River remains critically low following the summer drought, prompting the Ministry of Energy to work on technical solutions to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant.
Speaking at the Sofia Economic Forum, Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Iva Petrova announced that work is underway on a set of five technical solutions. The conceptual design phases are due to be finalized, followed by an assessment of the costs and benefits.
Nuclear energy is an unequivocal choice for the development of Bulgaria’s energy sector, Iva Petrova stressed. She added that ensuring the safe operation of the plant’s existing generating capacity is an absolute priority, while the project to build new capacity at the plant’s site is also continuing under an updated roadmap, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) reported.
