Hailey Glassman is at a “fork in the road” when it comes to her love life. In this exclusive clip from Tuesday’s all-new episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, the Season 16 newcomer gets real with Carole Radziwill about her unconventional marriage, her interest in dating women and whether it’s time to turn the page on her relationship.
Glassman has described her arrangement with her husband, Rubin Cronig, as a “lavender marriage,” explaining that she is also intimately involved with women. The two have known each other since childhood, after meeting at a sailing camp on Martha’s Vineyard, where they continue to spend time in addition to their lives in New York City. Although Rubin won’t appear on Season 16, their unconventional relationship is already a hot topic on the show.
As the girls sit in bed chatting, Radziwill asks Glassman about her husband, who lives his own life on Martha’s Vineyard. When Radziwill asks if he minds that Glassman dates women, she confirms that he doesn’t.
But when the conversation turns to whether she wants to sleep with men, Glassman makes her feelings clear.
“I just don’t wanna deal with it,” she says, adding that she would rather clean up eyelash extensions and hair on her floor than deal with men’s “little hair shavings.”
Radziwill can relate to some extent. “I mean, I barely want to sleep with men at this point,” she admits.
Glassman agrees that, these days, men sometimes “don’t bring anything to the table,” unless someone wants to have children. When Radziwill asks whether she wants kids, Glassman explains that she already has a child: Rubin.
That prompts Radziwill to ask a bigger question: “Why don’t you just be that person and not be married to him?”
Until now, Glassman said that there has never been a reason to get divorced because their arrangement works for them. But she admits that she is now facing a fork in the road, and that things could change if she met a woman she felt was worth leaving the marriage for.
Still, Glassman isn’t sugarcoating what it’s like to date women, either.
“When you date enough women, you know why men die first,” she quips, describing relationships with women as stressful and the “vibe” and “energy” as different.
Radziwill agrees that the experience is different, particularly the sex. This prompts Glassman to make an unexpected comparison between Pilates and hooking up with women. Pointing to her muscular arms, she jokes that being with women requires enough upper-body strength to hold certain positions.
“I mean, I’ve got some upper body strength and I’ve never been with a woman or taken a Pilates class,” Radziwill says in a confessional.
The conversation takes one final turn when Radziwill asks whether Glassman ever videotapes herself. Glassman quickly shuts that idea down, insisting that Ruben would never allow it.
How will Glassman’s unconventional marriage evolve as she navigates this new chapter? Tune in to The Real Housewives of New York City on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo to find out. New episodes stream the following day on Peacock.
