The death of a newborn baby four years after their sibling in Sydney’s southwest has sparked a police investigation.
Late on Tuesday afternoon, emergency services found a newborn unresponsive in a Hinchinbrook home shortly after it was delivered as a home birth.
The Daily Telegraph reports the baby’s mother suffered an identical tragedy four years earlier in 2022 – although there is nothing to suggest any wrongdoing.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, NSW Police confirmed investigations were under way into the tragic circumstances.
“Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command have commenced an investigation following the death of a newborn baby in Sydney’s southwest,” a statement reads.
“Police were notified about 6pm on Tuesday, October 27, after the baby was born at home in Hinchinbrook and subsequently died a short time later.”
