Martin Zubimendi’s situation this season has been baffling because he was one of the first names on the team sheet last season as the Gunners became English champions. His problem probably started at the World Cup when he did not get minutes as Spain became world champions, but he was expecting that to change when he returned to North London.
Instead, Arsenal has done well without him playing as they signed Bruno Guimaraes in the summer, but even when the Brazilian is on the bench, Zubi does not play. His future is up in the air, and in the summer Arsenal refused to sell him to any of his suitors, but their stance is changing, and Football365 claims the Gunners have opened the door.
Zubimendi’s Future in Doubt
The report says Mikel Arteta is more receptive to the idea of allowing him to leave the club in the next window amidst interest from Real Madrid. The midfielder’s lack of game time has been a concern, and the club’s stance has shifted.
Zubimendi’s quality is not in question, but his situation at Arsenal has deteriorated, and a move may be best for all parties. The Gunners’ depth in midfield means they can cope without him, and the funds from a sale could be useful.

A Move That Makes Sense
Arsenal’s new system means there is probably no way back for Zubimendi in the team, and the smart thing to do is to sell him while they can to raise funds and buy another midfielder who suits them. They have more than enough cover in that role and may not have to sign any player to replace him on their team.
Real Madrid’s interest adds a new dimension, as the Spanish giants could offer him a fresh start. The midfielder’s talent is not in doubt, and a move could benefit everyone. The fans will be sad to see him go, but it may be the right call.
The coming weeks will show whether a deal can be struck, as Zubimendi’s future hangs in the balance. The midfielder’s next move will be watched closely, and the January window could be decisive. Arsenal’s focus remains on the title race.
