Eagles get strange trade report on interest in Colts OL Quenton Nelson originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After the Philadelphia Eagles' second Monday Night Football loss of the year, this time to the Dallas Cowboys at home, the Eagles are 2-5 and are on a five-game losing streak.
There's one thing that the Eagles should take away from this loss: they have to be sellers. This Eagles team isn't going anywhere, and to make the most of their players on expiring contracts, trading players away over the next two weeks would make sense.
However, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that the Eagles, strangely, were one of the teams that showed "varying levels of interest" in an Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl offensive guard who was just traded to the Seattle Seahawks.
Eagles strangely had trade interest in OG Quenton Nelson
"The Packers, Bears and Eagles were among teams that showed varying levels of interest in Quenton Nelson, per source," Fowler reports. "His market was strong."
The Eagles were one of the teams, alongside the Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears, to show interest in Nelson this season, based on this report and Nelson's final landing spot.
Interest coming from those three teams makes sense, as they're all realistic playoff contenders. That isn't the case with the Eagles, as they're heading in the completely wrong direction, and actually should be major sellers.
However, this report indicates the Eagles had interest in trading for Nelson. That wouldn't make much sense for Howie Roseman and the Eagles, as buying assets for this team would be a horrible idea.

Jalen Hurts is down for the year, and Lane Johnson retired. The defense is a huge disappointment, and there are a lot of injury issues the team is dealing with right now.
In any other year, being linked to Nelson would make sense. But the 2026 Eagles shouldn't have interest in adding players, and instead they should be looking to trade away players.
This unexpected report from Fowler is one to keep in mind, especially if the Eagles are trying to buy and salvage things this season.
Roseman and the Eagles should sell, but this report from Fowler seems to indicate that they're looking to buy, which would be quite the unexpected course of action for Philadelphia prior to the 2026 trade deadline.
