The InEvo Re 10K Run and 5K Walk on November 1 will raise funds for the Bermuda Diabetes Association, supporting free community health screenings and diabetes awareness initiatives throughout November.
A spokesperson said, “On Sunday, November 1st, Bermuda will come together for more than just a race. Every kilometre run, every step walked, and every volunteer lending a hand will help make a difference to the health of our island, as the InEvo Re 10K Run and 5K Walk raises vital funds for the Bermuda Diabetes Association.
“Kicking off at 8:00am, the race, created by InEvo Re in collaboration with the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club [MAAC], will bring the community together for a morning of fitness, fun and giving back. With a 10K run, 5K competitive walk and 5K charity walk, there is an opportunity for everyone to get involved, regardless of fitness level or age.
“With every dollar raised going towards the Bermuda Diabetes Association, the race will help fund free community health screenings and support the Association’s activities throughout Diabetes Awareness Month in November. These initiatives help residents know their important health numbers, identify potential health risks early and take meaningful steps towards better health.
“The impact of this support will be felt almost immediately. On Friday, November 13, the Association will open its doors to the public for a free community Open House, offering blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, nutritional advice and the opportunity to learn more about the services available at the Association. Visitors can also enjoy a healthy cooking demonstrations from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with Rachel Wilks, chef and owner of Two Fish in a Barrel, showcasing how nutritious food can be both delicious and accessible.”
“Every person who takes part in this race is helping us reach someone in our community who may not otherwise have access to these important health services,” said Lori Rockhead, Executive Director of the Bermuda Diabetes Association.
“A simple health screening can be the first step towards identifying a problem early, preventing complications and making lasting changes. That’s why events like this matter so much. We’re incredibly grateful to InEvo Re and MAAC for bringing our community together, and to everyone who chooses to run, walk or volunteer. Your support allows us to turn community spirit into real, meaningful impact.”
Paul Kelly at InEvo Re, said: “We’re proud to sponsor this race in collaboration with MAAC, with all proceeds going to the Bermuda Diabetes Association. Our team will be running, walking, and volunteering on 1 November, and we’re looking forward to joining the community in supporting such an important cause.”
A spokesperson added, “Participants will take to the streets of Hamilton, with all three events starting near Victoria Park at the corner of Dundonald Street and Cedar Avenue. The 5K competitive and charity walks will follow Marsh Folly Road, Dock Hill and North Shore Road, returning through Black Watch Pass to finish outside the Masters parking lot on Dundonald Street. The 10K run will take participants further along North Shore Road towards Spanish Point before turning back towards the finish line.
“There will also be plenty to celebrate at the finish line, with prizes recognising outstanding performances. The 10K run will award the first overall male and female finishers, alongside the top three male and female competitors in each age category: 19 and under, 20–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69 and 70+. The 5K Competitive Walk will also recognise the top three male and female finishers.
“Race numbers can be collected on the morning of the event from 7:30am at the Masters parking lot on Dundonald Street.
“And for those who would rather cheer from the sidelines than cross the finish line, there is another way to make a difference. Volunteers are essential to bringing the event to life, and organisers are calling on members of the community to lend a hand and help make the morning a success.
“Whether you’re chasing a personal best, enjoying a walk with friends or giving a few hours of your time, every contribution helps.
