SHILLONG, Oct 26: Meghalaya began their campaign in the BCCI Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026-27 on a winning note, defeating Arunachal Pradesh by 38 runs in their Plate Group fixture at Sovima, Nagaland, on Monday.
After being asked to bat first, Meghalaya posted 111 for three in their allotted 20 overs before restricting Arunachal to 73 for seven to secure a comfortable victory.
Captain Debasmita Dutta led from the front with an unbeaten 48 off 57 balls, hitting five boundaries. She found valuable support from Luiza Tamang, who remained not out on 37 off 30 deliveries, including six fours. Their contributions helped Meghalaya build a competitive total after losing three wickets.
Arunachal struggled to keep pace with the required run rate during the chase and failed to build any substantial partnerships. Neha Hajong was the pick of Meghalaya’s bowlers, returning figures of three for 13 from her four overs.
Debasmita also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket for 12 runs in four overs, while Ajima Sangma claimed one for 13 from her four-over spell. Nabam Yakar top-scored for Arunachal with an unbeaten 21, but her effort was not enough to put her side in contention.
