Music collectors will have a new event to explore in Orihuela when the city’s first Record Fair takes over Auditorio La Lonja on November 7 and 8. Specialist sellers will offer everything from vinyl and CDs to cassettes and memorabilia, while live DJ sessions and displays exploring the history of recorded music will add to the weekend.
First Record Fair comes to Orihuela
Orihuela will celebrate its first Record Fair on November 7 and 8, bringing specialist sellers, collectors and music lovers together at Auditorio La Lonja.
The fair will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 8:30 PM on both days, with stalls located inside and outside the venue.
Visitors can browse vinyl records, CDs and cassettes spanning rock, pop, indie, punk, soul, funk, jazz, blues, electronic, hip-hop, metal, reggae and Spanish music.
Rare records and memorabilia go on sale
LPs, singles, maxi-singles, EPs, reissues, discontinued releases, second-hand records and special editions will be available, alongside posters and other music memorabilia.
The range is designed to appeal to established collectors as well as visitors looking to rediscover favourite albums or explore different styles and formats.
With specialist sellers gathered in one location, the event will offer plenty to browse across both days.
Live vinyl sessions add to weekend
Live vinyl sessions will add to the weekend. Vanessa Beegirl opens the programme at midday on Saturday, followed by Don Gonzalo of Granada’s Discos Bora Bora at 6:30 PM.
Pana Pinchadiscos, owner of Orihuela’s La Gramola, takes over at midday on Sunday.
The sessions will provide a musical backdrop to the fair while keeping vinyl at the heart of the event.
Fair explores history of recorded music
The fair will also explore the history of recorded music, including the evolution of different formats, how records were produced and the importance of album covers, photography and graphic design.
This wider focus will give visitors an opportunity to look beyond the records themselves and explore how the presentation and production of music have changed over the years.
Local food specialist La Alacena de la Vega will have a stall throughout Saturday and on Sunday morning, offering traditional products from the Vega Baja.
