World-renowned Indian spiritual leader and humanitarian Sri Sri Ravi Shankar—affectionately known to millions as Gurudev—embarks on a four-day cultural and spiritual journey across Egypt from October 25 to 28.
Titled “A Journey to Egypt with Gurudev,” this unique retreat weaves together historical exploration and inner reflection, guiding participants through the awe-inspiring Pyramids of Giza, the historic temples of Luxor, and a scenic voyage along the Nile.
Beyond admiring Egypt’s ancient heritage, the program offers a sanctuary for deep meditation, music, and thought-provoking discussions focused on cultivating daily tranquility and fostering deep human connection.
As the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, established in 1981, Ravi Shankar has spent over four decades championing global peace and self-discovery.
What began as a singular vision has expanded into an international educational and non-profit powerhouse active across more than 180 countries.
The foundation pairs breathwork and meditation courses with wide-reaching community development and humanitarian relief.
Its extensive scope includes expanding access to children’s education, supporting women’s empowerment, rehabilitating prison inmates, and delivering crucial aid to regions ravaged by natural disasters and armed conflict.
Environmental stewardship forms another core pillar of its mission, driving major initiatives in river restoration and sustainable agricultural practices.
Beyond his educational endeavors, Ravi Shankar’s personal commitment to peace-building has positioned him as a vital mediator in conflict zones worldwide – foremost being facilitating peace and reconciliation dialogues in Colombia.
In recognition of his distinguished service to humanity, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2016, India’s second-highest civilian honor.
His official biography reflects the vast reach of his work: he has personally designed over 50 meditation and self-development programs, trained upwards of 41,000 certified instructors, and touched the lives of more than one billion people globally, backed by an online community exceeding 26 million followers.
Following his four days in Egypt, the global spiritual figure heads to Munich, Germany, from October 30 to November 3 to host a series of live breathing and meditation workshops culminating in a Happiness Festival.
