Kuwait Municipality has begun demolishing 263 properties found to be in violation of regulations in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, as part of a phased enforcement campaign targeting 757 properties across the first two batches.
A second batch of 494 properties is scheduled for demolition in three weeks, following approval by the Municipality’s Director General, while a third batch is awaiting technical reports and detailed lists from the Ministry of Public Works.
Property owners will be required to bear the full costs of demolition and removal, calculated according to factors including transportation routes, equipment requirements, building height and total area.
The sources said the regulations would be enforced firmly and that owners of violating properties would be responsible for the full costs of demolition and removal. The charges will be calculated according to detailed estimates, taking into account factors including transportation routes, the equipment required, the number of floors and the total area of each building.
The phased approach places the focus on enforcing existing demolition orders while allowing further properties to be included as the necessary approvals and technical assessments are completed.
