(ANSA) - ROME, 27 OTT - Mark Antony Samson, a 24-year-old Italo-Filipino architecture graduate, on Tuesday got life imprisonment for murdering his ex girlfriend, 22-year-old Umbrian-born Rome university statistics student Ilaria Sula, in March 2025.
The Rome Assize Court sentenced Samson to life imprisonment for stabbing Sula to death and throwing her body—placed inside a sack—off a cliff.
The defendant, who had confessed to the crime, was charged with aggravated murder—including the aggravating circumstance of premeditation—and the concealment of a corpse.
In April 2025 Samson told police he murdered Sula on the morning of March 26 after she spent the previous night at his flat.
He said she had come to the apartment in Via Homs, in Rome's African Quarter, on the evening of March 25, in order to give him back some clothes.
She eventually stayed so late that she decided to stay over rather than get a night bus back home, he said.
Samson said they had recently broken up after going out for a few months, with ups and downs. (ANSA).
