The Redmi K100 has been launched in China, and it stands as an affordable phone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite. It sports a large 10,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging support and has a 165Hz AMOLED display. The starting price is CNY 2,999, about $450.
Xiaomi has held a relatively big launch event in China, and among the newly launched products is the Redmi K100. It's not as compact as the Pro model, but it comes with performance-focused specs.
Specifically, this new affordable phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which is the flagship SoC from 2024. While it's not as powerful as the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, it can still smoothly run most AAA Android games. With Turnip driver support, the SoC holds its ground well in PC game emulation as well.
The company has paired the SoC with the Redmi D2 chipset, which promises to bring gaming enhancements. On the front, there's a 6.83-inch AMOLED display, making it slightly smaller than the Redmi K100 Pro Max but larger than the Pro model. This screen has a 165Hz refresh rate, matching what top-end phones like the iQOO 16 bring to the table.
As Xiaomi notes, this display has a resolution of 2,772x1,280 pixels and a peak brightness rating of 3,500 nits. The Redmi K100 is also said to sport multiple comfort-forward display features, including full DC dimming and 1-nit brightness mode.
Another highlight of the phone is the 10,000mAh battery, which is larger than the one inside the OnePlus 16, iQOO 16, and RedMagic 12 Pro. There's support for 100W fast charging, and thanks to the 27W reverse charging feature, users can power up other devices through the phone (Baseus retractable 100W USB-C cable curr. $12.99 on Amazon).
Other notable aspects include a stereo speaker setup with Sound by Bose enhancements, a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor, and a sleek overall design. The Redmi K100 is available in three colorways, and the base configuration has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has a launch price of CNY 2,999, around $450.
Regarding the top-end configuration, it features 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. This config has a launch price of CNY 3,899, about $585. Xiaomi has yet to share global launch details, but the Redmi K100 is expected to launch outside China under the Poco F9 branding.
