(ANSA) - ROME, 27 OTT - Premier Giorgia Meloni's parliamentary email address was among several belonging to MPs to be targetted in a massive cyber attack on the Lower House's IT systems over the last few days, sources said on Tuesday.
The attack affected the entire IT system but the House's technicians managed to keep the situation under control, the sources.
"This is not an emergency situation and it occurs on a daily basis," the Lower House sources said.
"All the protective measures have been implemented, including in collaboration with the ACN (National Cybersecurity Agency), with which a specific protocol is in place." These measures may have included the temporary deactivation of certain IT system functions, in accordance with standard practice.
Premier's office sources, meanwhile, stressed that the targetted email account is not the one used by Meloni for government communications.
Attempted attacks of this kind and pressure on IT systems have intensified in recent days, including on other Italian European, and international institutions, the sources said. (ANSA).
