IPDC Finance PLC has signed a memorandum of understanding with international humanitarian organisation MedGlobal to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare services for vulnerable communities in Cox's Bazar.
Under the partnership, IPDC Finance will provide funding to improve services at the existing Maternity and Birth Centre in Somitipara, helping pregnant women, new mothers and newborns in climate-affected communities access safer, timely and dignified healthcare, according to a press release.
The initiative will support MedGlobal in providing antenatal, delivery, postnatal and newborn care, alongside family planning services, medical referrals, essential medicines and medical supplies.
It will also include health awareness programmes through Mothers' Clubs and Adolescent Girls' Clubs, as well as training for healthcare professionals to improve service quality.
Fahmida Khan, chief financial officer of IPDC Finance, said, "At IPDC Finance, we believe our responsibility extends beyond financial services to supporting initiatives that make a meaningful difference in people's lives. Through our partnership with MedGlobal, we aim to improve access to essential maternal and newborn healthcare for vulnerable communities in Cox's Bazar. We hope this initiative will contribute to safer healthcare and better well-being for mothers, newborns and their families."
Retired commander SM Ferdousuzzaman, PSC, MedGlobal's country representative for Bangladesh, said, "Access to timely maternal and newborn healthcare is essential for vulnerable families. With IPDC Finance's support, we will be able to strengthen services at the Maternity and Birth Centre in Somitipara, improve the quality of care and expand community health awareness. This partnership will help us better serve mothers and newborns in Cox's Bazar."
The initiative will benefit pregnant women, new mothers, newborns and vulnerable families, including displaced populations living in climate-affected areas of Cox's Bazar.
MedGlobal is an international non-profit organisation providing free healthcare to refugees, displaced people and disaster-affected communities. Registered with Bangladesh's NGO Affairs Bureau, the organisation operates in the country through its office in Cox's Bazar.
IPDC Finance said the partnership reinforces its commitment to community well-being and improving access to essential healthcare services for underserved populations in Bangladesh.
