Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center has opened a bronchoscopy laboratory at Vanderbilt University Hospital, also in Nashville.
The new space more than doubles the hospital’s capacity to provide interventional pulmonary care, according to an Oct. 26 news release from VUMC.
Bronchoscopy volume at Vanderbilt University Hospital has grown from 1,510 to 2,460 cases over the past five years. Capacity will increase to 5,000 cases with the addition of the bronchoscopy laboratory’s four operating suites.
The laboratory will be staffed by interventional pulmonologists, advanced bronchoscopists, nurses, surgical technicians, respiratory therapists, radiation technicians, care partners and patient service specialists, the release said.
