The Milwaukee Brewers are in the World Series, and heading into Game 3 in Tampa Bay, they hold a 2-0 lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. Their odds of winning it all this year are very high.
It's never been a better time to be a Brewers fan. But even though it might be too early, looking ahead to the offseason, the Brewers have some difficult questions they normally might be gearing up to ask about core players' futures in Milwaukee.
However, Andy McCullough and Will Sammon of The Athletic revealed some good news for the Brewers that bodes well for them keeping their core together after the 2026 World Series comes to a close, win or lose.
Brewers get good news on future of core after World Series
"The Brewers believe they will have more money at their disposal after the World Series run, according to people who were familiar with the situation who were not authorized to speak publicly because the tally of the revenue had not been finalized," The Athletic duo write.
This is a very interesting report from McCullough and Sammon, as this would indicate that the Brewers will have extra financial resources at their disposal to keep this core together.
But, who would this exactly impact? Jacob Misiorowski, Jackson Chourio, and others are already signed long-term or on cheap, controllable deals.
This would really be impactful for the decisions with two key players: William Contreras and Trevor Megill. Their starting catcher and their closer might normally be trade candidates this offseason.

Milwaukee's front office isn't afraid of making the difficult moves, like they have with Freddy Peralta, Corbin Burnes, and Devin Williams, among others, over these past few seasons.
But this upcoming offseason could be a lot different. Instead of Contreras and Megill being trade chips, the extra revenue from their World Series run, especially if they win it all, could give them the edge needed to bring those players back.
This is a situation to closely monitor going forward, as there's a real chance that the Brewers can avoid trading their soon-to-be-free-agent stars, unlike in previous offseasons.
If so, Contreras and Megill might be able to stick around long-term, keeping this core together and giving Milwaukee a great chance of succeeding next year and beyond with a very strong core set in place.
