The Democratic Party of Korea decided on the 27th to conduct a parliamentary investigation into Supreme Court Chief Justice Jo Hee-de.
Jeon Eun-soo, the party's floor spokesperson, told reporters at the National Assembly after a general meeting of lawmakers that the party had agreed on the step. "Regarding future measures concerning Chief Justice Jo, everyone agreed that a parliamentary investigation should come first," Jeon said. "We have decided to conduct a parliamentary investigation."
The party plans to move ahead with the related procedures with the aim of reporting the investigation request to a plenary session of the National Assembly on Nov. 5. The specific schedule and format have not been determined.
"There appeared to be no dissenting views on the need for a parliamentary investigation," Jeon added.
