The state government has stepped up efforts to ensure the smooth distribution of free sugar, flour and suji to all ration card holders during October and November, as announced under a recent Cabinet decision.
To review the implementation of the welfare initiative and assess whether the food items are reaching beneficiaries properly, a high-level virtual meeting was convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury.
The meeting was held from the minister's official residence and attended by the Director of the Food Department, senior departmental officials and Sub-Divisional Magistrates from across the state through virtual mode. The discussions focused on monitoring the progress of the scheme, identifying implementation challenges and ensuring timely delivery of the food commodities to eligible consumers.
During the review, authorities examined the status of distribution in different subdivisions and stressed the need for effective coordination among officials to ensure that beneficiaries receive the entitled items without inconvenience. Particular emphasis was placed on maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the distribution process.
Addressing the officials, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said the government's primary objective is to ensure that the benefits of every people-centric decision reach the intended beneficiaries. He directed the concerned authorities to maintain strict monitoring and adopt all necessary measures to ensure efficient implementation of the scheme.
The initiative is expected to provide additional support to ration card holders during the festive season, with the government aiming to ensure that the free distribution programme is carried out smoothly and reaches consumers across the state in a timely manner.
