Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce added another impressive accolade to his ever-growing NFL résumé on Sunday night when facing the Seattle Seahawks. It was a highlight in an otherwise disappointing night for the Chiefs as they fell 20-3 to suffer their first loss of the 2026 season.
No one on the Chiefs' offense truly stood out, at least not in comparison to previous games. Kelce, for instance, caught just four passes for 44 yards. But, those receptions were major in the grand scheme of his career.
Kelce officially registered his 1,103rd reception in his career, which allowed him to surpass Chris Carter and Marvin Harrison on the NFL's all-time list of receptions. Kelce now sits fifth on the legendary list.

The historical catch came in the fourth quarter as Kelce's quarterback and best friend Patrick Mahomes threw the tight end a 19-yard pass. It was the longest catch of the night for Kelce.
The Chiefs star, of course, had to pump his fist in celebration.
Kelce now trails Jerry Rice (1,549 receptions), Larry Fitzgerald (1,432), Tony Gonzalez (1,325) and Jason Witten (1,228) on the all-time list. This means Kelce trails Rice's record by 446 receptions. In Kelce's previous 12 seasons, he averaged 90 receptions per year, meaning it would essentially be impossible for Kelce to break Rice's record at this point in his career. But, he could get closer to Witten's total.
This wasn't the only history Kelce made on Sunday night. The Chiefs star officially holds the record for the most receiving yards by a tight end in history with 15,420, per Underdog, including the regular season and playoffs. He surpassed the Chiefs legend Gonzalez (15,413 yards) on Sunday night with his 44 yards. With 11 more weeks in the season, Kelce will only continue to increase this total to secure an even more difficult record to break in the future.
