Bangladesh’s women’s kabaddi team were knocked out of the medal race at the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship after suffering a 31-20 defeat to Sri Lanka at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Monday.
A second defeat in three matches left Bangladesh third in the five-team group with two points, four behind leaders Sri Lanka, who have six points from four matches, and two behind Kenya, who have four points from two matches.
Only the top two teams will advance to the semifinals, securing at least bronze medals.
Bangladesh trailed 15-9 at half-time and failed to recover in the must-win match, being all out twice against Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh had earlier recorded their first win of the tournament with a commanding 75-15 victory over Scotland, following a 34-25 defeat to Kenya in their campaign opener.
