(ANSA) - LONDRA, 27 OTT - Italy took center stage at the Global Bioeconomy Summit 2026, an international summit dedicated to sustainable innovation and the bioeconomy held in Dublin in recent days, where Italian industrial excellence was combined with strategic support from local institutions during two days of high-level meetings.
On the first day of the event, Mirella Senatore, representing the Italian Embassy in Dublin, participated in the plenary session, which featured among its keynote speakers Catia Bastioli, CEO of Novamont (Eni Group), an international leader in the development and production of compostable bioplastics and biochemicals derived from renewable sources, who highlighted the solid contribution of Italian innovation to the development of sustainable solutions and its potential at the European level to drive industrial growth and create value for local communities through a systemic approach to the circular bioeconomy.
Dialogue and support from the Italian government and business community continued on the second day, with Ambassador Nicola Faganello and Francesco Montana Paladini, head of the Dublin desk at ICE Agency (Italian Trade Agency), who met with Franz Kraus, head of Novamont’s International Public Affairs department. The visit underscored the concrete commitment of diplomatic and commercial institutions to supporting the leadership of Italian companies, fostering internationalization linked to the ecological transition.
The Italian delegation also met with Nicolò Giacomuzzi-Moore, executive director of the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU). The discussion provided an opportunity to explore the activities of the CBE JU, a public-private partnership between the EU and the Consortium of Bio-based Industries, whose goal is to fund projects that advance circular and sustainable biomass-based industries, thereby making a significant contribution to European climate and environmental goals.
