The Detroit Pistons are off to a hot 3-0 start for the NBA season, and that's something that should put a big smile on their faces. But going into the season, not everybody thought this team would, well, be this good.
There's a reason there's the saying "Detroit vs. Everybody." Sometimes being a Detroit sports fan feels like the world is against you.
Cade Cunningham gets it. The Pistons' starting guard spoke with the media after the team's 106-93 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Cade Cunningham sends a message to Detroit Pistons naysayers
Following the 76ers game and days before Detroit takes on New York, Cunningham called out Pistons doubters.
"It don't matter," he said, according to Hunter Patterson of The Athletic on X. "We're going to keep on going and let whatever people that are talking about us say whatever they want to say about us."
Sometimes there's no real way to silence the naysayers. Even winning games won't always do it. But winning games is something you can't fake, and numbers don't lie, so if the Pistons keep winning, it'll be pie in the face for those who said Detroit would never be good enough.
Next up, the Pistons take on the reigning NBA champions, the New York Knicks, on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden. What's wild is that the Knicks haven't won a single game yet this season. So, New York will come into this matchup with a chip on their shoulder and desperate for a win, but that doesn't mean they'll get it.
