The Blue Jays season may have ended a month ago, but Ernie Clement has been busier than ever.
The first-time all-star had some celebrating to do over the weekend, as he and fiancée Stefanie Brejcha threw a long-awaited engagement party.
“Will continue to use our engagement as an excuse to party,” Brejcha posted on Instagram, sharing several photos from the event while adding a “thank you to our last-minute guests for showing up.”
Clement and Brejcha have been engaged for almost two months, with the infielder reportedly popping the question during a trip to Cleveland – a place that has special meaning to the couple.
While the surprise had been somewhat spoiled by Brejcha’s friend Faith Reilly, the wife of former Jays outfielder Joey Loperfido, the 30-year-old confirmed the news in early September.
“Surprise!!” she wrote, adding a ring emoji. “The best guy, the best friends, and the best family. Feeling all the love this weekend in the most special spot in the world. Now let’s do this thing!!!”

Clement and Brejcha have been together for several years, going public in Jan. 2024 while the infielder was a member of the Cleveland Guardians organization. Brejcha also reportedly is a native of nearby Mentor, Ohio, and attended Kent State University.
Several Blue Jays WAGS gave their congratulations to the couple on Instagram.
“Steffy baby is getting married!!!! We love you guys!” commented Emily Little, the wife of Jays reliever Brendon Little.
“Hellllll yeah!!!!! Love you!” Marissa Hoffman, wife of former Jays closer Jeff Hoffman, commented.
While a pair of photos show a rather large group at the party, it’s unclear if any of Clement’s Blue Jays teammates, past or present, attended.
What is Ernie Clement doing at the World Series?
Clement and Brejcha’s party was just the start of what should be a very eventful stretch for the Jays star.
The infielder was set to make his debut as a correspondent for the MLB Network during Games 3 and 4 at the World Series, beginning on Monday night.
According to MLB.com, Clement will provide “player-first coverage and creating content across MLB’s social media channels,” from Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., as the Tampa Bay Rays host the Milwaukee Brewers.
Clement’s playful attitude has been a big hit with Jays fans during his time in Toronto and should translate well to the on-screen role.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Payton Tolle and now-retired L.A. Dodgers infielder Miguel Rojas served as correspondents during Media Day and for Game 1 in Milwaukee, with the latter working with MLB Español to provide Spanish-language coverage.
The World Series Correspondent Program was established in 2021 to allow players an opportunity to be featured across MLB’s platforms and “showcase their personalities and give fans a behind-the-scenes look.”
Clement taking on the role could lead to an interesting turnabout if he ventures into the Rays dugout.
During the Blue Jays’ run to last year’s championship series, Tampa Bay all-star Junior Caminero was one of the three players chosen for the correspondent program. It could be interesting to see if he and Clement exchange notes about their experiences.
