In a selfie-style video, the 14-year-old made an emotional case against a court order handed down on Tuesday, 27 October, which granted Kanyari custody of her and her younger brother Danny, directing both children to leave the home of their stepfather Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash.
Sky and Danny have been living with Tash since their mother Betty Bayo died in November 2025.

Sky's concerns about Kanyari's home
To illustrate her fears, Sky brought up a stepsister, a girl she described as another of Kanyari's children from a different mother, whose own mother reportedly passed away just last month.
"There's a girl who is also his daughter but different mother, same father. Her mom passed away, I think it was last month. He has not gone online to brag about it," Sky said in the clip.
"When we go to his house and she's there, she's treated like nothing. What makes us think that we are more special than her? We are not more special than her. We are the same as her. We are both humans. So if she's treated that way, what happens if I go live with him for the next one year? What makes me think that I won't be treated the same way as she's being treated?"
Sky also recalled the difficult period after her mother separated from Kanyari, describing a small estate house with no furniture, no television, and bills stacking up at the door during the COVID-19 quarantine period, when Betty, who depended on singing engagements, could not earn an income. She credited Tash with steadying the family's life during that stretch, buying them seats and a TV.
Sky's plea after the court ruling
Hours before the video, Sky had gone live on Facebook to reject the custody ruling outright, breaking down as she spoke about what the decision meant for her and Danny.
She revealed the ruling had left her sleepless and Danny in tears.
Kanyari has previously cited Section 34 of the Children Act, arguing that as the surviving biological parent he holds the right to custody.
Sky has appealed directly to Kenyans and President William Ruto to ensure the children's wishes are taken into account as the case continues.
