Anakapalli district police have geared up to tackle Cyclone Arnab and prevent loss of life and property, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, said on Monday, urging people in coastal and low-lying areas to remain alert.
Police Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will coordinate with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Fire Services for rescue operations. Continuous patrolling will be conducted in vulnerable areas. Police and emergency personnel have been directed to remain at headquarters, with leave cancelled until the threat subsides.
Authorities will evacuate vulnerable residents to rehabilitation centres in coordination with revenue officials and ensure drinking water, food and essential facilities. Fishermen have been advised against venturing into the sea until weather conditions improve.
The SP warned of strict legal action against those spreading cyclone-related rumours or misinformation.
People should avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain and strong winds, stay away from unstable structures, trees, electricity poles and hoardings, and never touch fallen electric wires. Flooded roads, streams and causeways must not be crossed.
Residents should stock drinking water, non-perishable food, essential medicines and torches, keep mobile phones charged, and follow official alerts.
For emergencies, contact 112 or 100. The police remain committed to public safety, the SP said.
