Popular Nigerian comedian, actor and producer, Ayo Makun, widely known as AY, has issued a public apology after an unresolved payment dispute disrupted the Cardiff leg of his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” UK tour on Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The comedian was billed to perform at Valegate Retail Park, but audience members said they waited for hours for a show that never started.
Attendees faced hours of prolonged delays and confusion, culminating in heated arguments and an eventual police presence at the scene.
Most of the audience left the hall without seeing any performance.
In a statement released on Monday, October 26, via his official Instagram Account, AY clarified that he and his fellow comedians traveled to Cardiff and were physically at the venue but could not perform because of unresolved payment commitments with the organisers.
“My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left,” he said.
The comedian expressed regret over the experience, acknowledging that fans who paid to attend the show deserved better treatment.
“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” AY stated.
He also appealed to fans to hear his account of the incident before reaching conclusions about what transpired, saying he had explained the circumstances in a video.
Addressing the issue of compensation, AY called on the organisers and the UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for affected ticket holders, including information on refunds.
“I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information,” he said, adding that verified updates would be communicated through his official channels.
The incident had triggered complaints from attendees on social media, with reports of prolonged waiting, heated exchanges and police presence at the venue.
