A technical fault in the national grid disrupted electricity supply in parts of Dhaka and Chattogram yesterday, leaving several areas without power.
The affected areas in Dhaka include Gulshan, Rampura, Ulan and Motijheel, as well as Bhulta, Haripur and Siddhirganj in Narayanganj, state-owned Power Grid Bangladesh PLC said in an emergency statement.
The Secretariat reportedly remained without electricity for nearly an hour, it said.
The outage began at 12:43pm after a fault developed in the Meghnaghat-Haripur national grid line, according to multiple officials at the Power Division.
Power Grid Bangladesh said efforts were underway to restore electricity supply to the affected areas.
“Power connections have already been restored in most affected areas. We hope to ensure electricity supply to the remaining areas within a short time,” the statement said.
The company apologised to customers for the temporary inconvenience.
Power supply in northern Bangladesh and other unaffected areas remained normal, according to the statement.
