The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered a stolen Toyota Prado SUV and arrested one suspect in Garki, Abuja.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the dark ash Toyota Prado, with registration number ABC 60 CZ X, was reported stolen by Mr Haruna Alhaji at Garki Police Station on October 25, 2026, at about 8:20 a.m.
According to Adeh, the vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of an event centre in Area 8, Garki, after an unidentified man drove it out of the premises at about 3:10 p.m. on the same day without the owner’s knowledge.
She said that, upon receiving the report, operatives from Garki Division commenced investigations and, with the aid of digital tracking technology, tracked and recovered the vehicle within the Garki area at about 7:30 p.m. that day.
Adeh said Samaila Mamza was arrested in connection with the theft and remained in police custody, adding that the suspect would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
She quoted the Commissioner of Police for the FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, as urging residents to remain security-conscious and install vehicle tracking devices to aid prompt recovery in cases of theft.
According to her, the commissioner also encouraged residents to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the Command’s emergency lines: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
