Internet group Info Edge, which owns jobs platform Naukri and matrimony app Jeevansathi, has agreed to invest Rs 5 crore (around $525k) in B2B marketplace and quick commerce platform Bijnis.
How will the deal pan out? As part of the deal, Startup Investments (Holding) Ltd, a subsidiary of Info Edge, will subscribe to 23,683 Series B2 compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS) of Bijnis. The shares will have a face value of Rs 1o each, with the issue price set at Rs 2,111.19 per share.
Following the investment, Info Edge’s shareholding in Bijnis will increase to 20.12% on a fully converted and diluted basis.
In its stock exchange disclosure, the Sanjeev Bikhchandani-led company said it may also acquire additional equity in Bijnis through secondary infusion. Secondary capital is one where money does not go to the company but is rather directed to those who are selling their existing stake in the firm.
Who is Bijnis? Founded in 2015, Bijnis operates a B2B wholesale platform, allowing retailers to source footwear and apparel directly from manufacturers. The company has also built a dark store network to facilitate hyper local delivery in select markets within 60 minutes.
In the fiscal year ended March 2026 (FY26), Bijnis reported a turnover of Rs 113.89 crore, down % from Rs 132.62 crore in FY25, according to the exchange filing.
Why this matters: Info Edge had written off its entire investment of around Rs 77 crore in Bijnis in 2023, citing a high cash burn and fundraising uncertainty at the startup. The write off came in the face of a disappointing FY23, when Info Edge reported a loss of Rs 70.45 crore, reversing from profits of Rs 12,882 crore in FY22.
The commitment from Info Edge signals its renewed confidence in Bijnis as well as an increasing risk appetite for growth-stage startups. The announcement also comes at a time when the company is making excessive profits from its AI bets.
In June this year, the Naukri parent said it has invested Rs 1,003 crore across 54 AI and deeptech startups since 2020. As of March 2026, the combined value of these investments stood at Rs 1,827 crore, which works around to a 1.8x return multiple.
Its AI and deeptech portfolio include startups such as voice AI startup Gnani.ai, electric air taxi maker ePlane and Deepinder Goyal’s Temple and LAT Aerospace, just to name a few.
Info Edge is also a shareholder in Eternal (Zomato) and PB Fintech (Policybazaar).
