Otto's transfer cleared the way for Munanura to step into the top intelligence role within the UPDF structure.
The press statement noted that the UPDF fraternity extended congratulations to Acting Major General Munanura on both his promotion and appointment, while also commending Major General Otto for the work he carried out during his tenure as CDIS.
UPDF statement on the appointments
The statement from Colonel Magezi read: "The UPDF fraternity congratulates Ag Maj General Oscar Munanura for the promotion and appointment, and commends Maj General Richard Otto for the great work he has done during his tenure. We wish the General Officers good luck in their new duties."
The appointments represent a significant shift in the leadership of one of Uganda's most sensitive military departments, responsible for intelligence and security within the country's armed forces.
