The Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office opened cases against Serbian Ambassador to the United States Dragan Sutanovac and Ambassador to Slovakia Aleksandar Nakic over suspected abuse of office and violations of voting rights.
The prosecution said it initially opened cases based on two complaints against the ambassadors and, on October 20, requested information from the Foreign Ministry and the Republic Election Commission (RIK) as part of preliminary proceedings.
Sutanovac was a senior Democratic Party (DS) official who held ministerial posts when that party was in power.
It subsequently received 13 additional criminal complaints, including complaints against the two ambassadors and Serbian ambassadors in France, Romania, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Australia, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Complaints were also filed against Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, ministry security department head Vesko Radovic and acting General Secretary Dusan Kozarev.
The prosecution requested checks by the Internal Affairs Ministry's Organized Crime Service.
