The reduction amounts to 17 billion British thermal units per day over 18 days.
Local gas importer Gas Supply Pte Ltd (GSPL) may pursue contractual remedies against its Indonesian suppliers following a reduction in natural gas deliveries, according to Minister Tan See Leng.
He said GSPL would engage its suppliers to determine whether the reduction constituted a breach of contract and pursue available commercial remedies if a breach is established.
The reduction amounts to 17 billion British thermal units per day (BBTUD) over 18 days, representing less than 2% of Singapore's daily power-sector gas demand.
“We have sufficient replacement gas from other sources, including LNG,” Tan said at a media doorstop on 25 October.
The country has also diversified its natural gas sources and maintains a standby LNG facility. Singapore GasCo is prepared to import additional LNG when required, he added.
Tan said the government is also building a second LNG terminal and diversifying its energy mix in the medium term.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
