Veteran television producer and director Brijendra Pal Singh (B.P. Singh), the creator of the crime series CID and the horror classic Aahat, has passed away at the age of 77 following a massive heart attack.
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit shared the news on social media, expressing his condolences.
“Sad to know about the demise of an ace producer-director B.P. Singh ji due to massive heart attack today early morning,” Pandit wrote in a tribute shared on Instagram.
Pandit mentioned he felt privileged to share a close bond with Singh when he served as president of the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA).
“A brilliant filmmaker who captivated the nation with his crime shows C.I.D and Aahat. His work is still and will continue to be an inspiration to generations to come,” Pandit wrote.
Describing Singh as “a wonderful human being and a dear friend,” Pandit said that his immense contributions to the entertainment industry will always be cherished.
Singh also stepped in front of the camera on CID as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shamsher Singh Chitrole, bringing a memorable on-screen presence to the very series he helped create.
