Parts of Scotland are experiencing their fifth weather warning in five days in the wake of two storms, as gusts of up to 70mph are predicted to batter the country.
The yellow weather warning for wind came into force at 3am in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and is set to remain in place until 9pm.
The Met Office alert, which covers the majority of the mainland, the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland, comes as Scotland was hit by Storm Austen on Friday and Storm Boelo on Saturday.
Weather alerts have been in place over the last five days in Scotland, including an amber alert for strong winds, which ran for 24 hours over the weekend.
The storms brought major disruption, with tens of thousands left without power, homes and businesses flooded, public transport cancelled, and trees brought down over roads.
One man died after being struck by a tree in Dumfries and Galloway, while two women were injured by another falling tree in Perth and Kinross.
Tuesday’s weather alert follows a yellow warning on Monday, which ran from 6pm until 3am on Tuesday in the western parts of the country.
The Met Office says gusts of up to 70mph could be recorded in some places on Tuesday, and there is a small chance of danger to life from flying debris and strong waves in coastal areas.
Trains and ferries could be cancelled, and flights may be impacted, while driving conditions could be impaired. Scots are urged to check journeys before travel.
The forecaster said: “Highest winds are expected in the far north and northwest and most likely over the Hebrides. The strongest of the winds will reduce from the southwest later on Tuesday, with the far north of Scotland the last to see winds ease.”
