Wakil Hossain Boga, also known as Bihari Boga, an alleged criminal and expelled leader of Chattogram city’s Swechchhasebak Dal, and 12 of his followers were sent to jail yesterday after they surrendered before a court in two cases filed with Khulshi Police Station.
AGM Monirul Hasan Sarkar, chief metropolitan magistrate, rejected their bail petitions, said Assistant Public Prosecutor Raihanul Wazed Chowdhury.
Boga and his followers surrendered seeking bail in the cases, which involve allegations of attacking police, vandalism and obstructing police from performing their duties, among other charges, he said.
Boga was brought to court under tight security.
He had earlier surrendered before another court on October 18 and was sent to jail.
Boga was expelled from the party on June 8, 2025, following a shooting incident over the occupation of government land. He faces more than 23 cases involving allegations of extortion, drug-related offences, assault, attacks on police, vandalism and explosives-related offences.
