ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The coronation is now near.
But first the tour de force.
For the Brewers assembled nine innings defining what is possible for the majors’ best team — no more votes on that issue. They set a franchise record for wins with an MLB-high 103. And have been better in the postseason, assembling one of the most dominant runs ever at 10-1.
And they were never better than Monday night, when everything they have been peaked in a relentless, merciless and peerless performance. They hit, they fielded, they pitched, heck the best skill on the field might have been catcher William Contreras’ incomparable ability to successfully challenge pitches to reverse them into strikes. He was 4-for-4.
